The Sabres have signed Jordan Samuels-Thomas to a one-year deal on an entry level contract.

A power forward at 6’4″, 215 pounds, Samuels-Thomas adds some size and toughness to the organization. Buffalo acquired the rights to the 24-year-old in a trade with Winnipeg in exchange for a conditional seventh-round pick in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.

“My feeling is he’s ready to be a high-impact player at the AHL level,” Rand Pecknold, Samuels’ coach at Quinnipiac University said. “He has the potential to play in the NHL. He just needs to keep working on his game. The main thing I think he needs to improve on is his consistency, bringing it every night and being great every night.”

Samuels-Thomas will likely begin the season with Rochester.

I founded Buffalo Hockey Central in 2008 and have poured hours and hours into this site. Luckily, we have a great team of writers and designers who have helped keep this up and running despite a ton of out-of-pocket costs. We do this because we enjoy it, and we're desperate to see the Sabres win the Cup someday, but they have to make the playoffs first.
