The Buffalo Sabres have hired Tom Coolen, Danny Flynn and Hall of Famer Brian Trottier as their new assistant coaches. They have all previously worked with Ted Nolan in other organizations.
Arturs Irbe will serve as the Buffalo Sabres goaltending coach.
Trottier won the Stanley Cup six time as a player, and one as a coach, making his name known through 18 seasons with the New York Islanders and Pittsburgh Penguins. He also had eight seasons in which he scored over 100 points.
On the coaching side, Trottier has been an assistant with the Penguins and Avalanche, as well as head coach of the Rangers for part of a season.
Trottier was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1997 and his number 19 was raised to the rafters of Nassau Coliseum on October 20th, 2001.
Flynn served under Ted Nolan previously in the NHL, with the New York Islanders during the 2006-07 season, and is a former head coach of Montcon.
The Sabres also announced some front office moves. Rob Murphy, who had spent the past four seasons as a pro scout for the Ottawa Senators has been added as the Director of Scouting.
Greg Royce has been added as the Director of Amateur Scouting. Royce had spent the last six seasons as an amateur scout for the Ottawa Senators.
Also, Mark Jakubowski has been promoted to Assistant General Manager. Jakubowski will be entering his 10th season with the Sabres organization, where he has spent the last six seasons as the Assistant to the General Manager.
