Following a troubling 5-1 loss on Saturday evening to the Colorado Avalanche the Buffalo Sabres travel to take on long-time rival the Boston Bruins on Sunday night.
The game comes a day after the defeat by Colorado which saw Johan Larsson score his first career NHL goal at the 13:27 mark of the 3rd period. Alex Tanguay led the way with two goals and an assist while Calvin Pickard stonewalled the Sabres, stopping 28-of-29 shots. For Buffalo, Jhonas Enroth saved 18-of-22 shots faced and Larsson tallying the lone goal off of assists from Andre Benoit and Chris Stewart. Patrick Kaleta (illness) and Tyler Myers (lower body injury) both left the game early due to ailments.
Looking ahead to the Bruins,who have lost 4-of-5 prior to Sunday’s matchup and sit seven points above the Sabres in the current standings. They are led by Patrice Bergeron and Carl Soderberg who each have six goals and 22 points on season. Brad Marchand and Reilly Smith lead the way with eight goals each. In between the pipes Tuukka Rask paces the Bruins with 25 games under his belt this year at 12-10-3 and a 2.50 goals against average and a .914 save percentage.
For the Sabres, not much has changed statistical wise since the gave against Colorado. Jhonas Enroth now sports a goals-against of 3.01 with a .913 save percentage. Tomorrow’s matchup, Buffalo could be missing Myers and Kaleta due to their ailments, which means a few more calls to Rochester are to be made.
Tomorrow’s game is scheduled for 7 p.m. puck drop at the TD Garden in Boston. MSG-B, Bell TV and NESN will have the television action tomorrow.
