Sabres relieve Ted Nolan of head coaching duties

The worst kept secret throughout the entire National Hockey League now has been confirmed.

The Buffalo Sabres have officially relieved Ted Nolan of his head coaching duties.

In the last two seasons with the Sabres organization, Nolan amassed a record of 40-87-8.

Nolan’s assistants will be removed as well. Danny Flynn has been relieved of his duties, while the contracts of Bryan Trottier and Tom Coolen will not be renewed.

No word on if goaltending coach Arturs Irbe will be retained.

More to come.
