Sabres sign Carlo Colaiacovo

carloThe Buffalo Sabres have made another move today, and it’s the signing of free agent Carlo Colaiacovo. The defenseman inked a one-year, one-way contract for $900,000.

The 32-year-old has played in 13 seasons with the Maple Leafs, Blues, Red Wings and Flyers, totaling 152 points (33 goals, 119 assists) in 434 career games.

The veteran will likely fit in as the team’s 6th or 7th defenseman, assuming he can stay healthy. Colaiacovo is a former 1st round (17th overall) selection by Toronto in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.

I founded Buffalo Hockey Central in 2008 and have poured hours and hours into this site. Luckily, we have a great team of writers and designers who have helped keep this up and running despite a ton of out-of-pocket costs. We do this because we enjoy it, and we're desperate to see the Sabres win the Cup someday, but they have to make the playoffs first.
