No suspension for Gudas’ hit on Catenacci

Late in Thursday’s game against Philadelphia, Dan Catenacci was fighting for the puck when Radko Gudas skated over and delivered a brutal hit. Catenacci was able to skate off under his own power, but was immediately sent to go through the concussion protocol. Gudas received a five minute charging penalty, and then the major for fighting.

Here’s a look at the hit:

“The guy’s an idiot. He’s dirty, goes after a rookie, goes right for his head. He’s an idiot that’s all I can say.” – Marcus Foligno

“I think there’s no question it’s head hit. I know the league will look at that hit and deal with it.” – Dan Bylsma

However, Gudas will not receive supplemental discipline for his hit on Catenacci. No suspension coming for him.

Jake McCabe said he believes his suspension has been rescinded.

Do you think Gudas deserved a suspension? Or was it a clean hit?

I founded Buffalo Hockey Central in 2008 and have poured hours and hours into this site. Luckily, we have a great team of writers and designers who have helped keep this up and running despite a ton of out-of-pocket costs. We do this because we enjoy it, and we're desperate to see the Sabres win the Cup someday, but they have to make the playoffs first.
