Rochester Americans Head Coach Dan Lambert has his assistants.
New Rochester Assistant Coaches, Chuck Weber and Brad Tapper will join goaltending coach Bob Janosz.
Weber, a Lockport native, was Rochester’s head coach in 2010-11 when the team was affiliated with the Florida Panthers. When the Sabres renewed their ties with the Amerks, Weber stayed on with the Panthers, coaching their minor-leaguers in San Antonio for two seasons before becoming director of hockey operations. He coached 13 games in Russia’s Kontinental Hockey League this season before returning to North America.
Weber guided the team to the ECHL’s Kelly Cup Championships in 2008 and 2010 as coach and vice president of hockey operations for Cincinnati. He also was named Coach of the Year in 2008. His 45 postseason games with the Cyclones is the most by an ECHL coach during a four-year period.
Tapper, a Scarborough, Ontario native, joins the Amerks after two years as an assistant coach with the Chicago Wolves of the AHL. Prior to Chicago, he spent a year as an assistant coach with the Orlando Solar Bears and two years as an assistant coach for the Florida Everblades of the ECHL. He played three seasons of college hockey at RPI before turning pro.
