Sabres to name Woods as assistant coach

Woods

The Buffalo Sabres are expected to name Bob Woods as an assistant coach. He’s been coaching at the ECHL, AHL, WHL and NHL level since the 1997-98 season, giving him 20 years of experience.

Most notably, Woods has been with the Washington Capitals and Anaheim Ducks, but is currently coming off of two years with the Saskatoon Blades (AHL). He also was a part of the Hershey Bears championship in 2008-09 as a coach and also as a player in 1997.

Woods was drafted by the New Jersey Devils in round 10 (201st overall) in the 1988 NHL Entry Draft, but never received the call up to NHL.

More to come.

I founded Buffalo Hockey Central in 2008 and have poured hours and hours into this site. Luckily, we have a great team of writers and designers who have helped keep this up and running despite a ton of out-of-pocket costs. We do this because we enjoy it, and we're desperate to see the Sabres win the Cup someday, but they have to make the playoffs first.
