Sabres acquire Nilsson for pick

Nilsson

The Buffalo Sabres have acquired Anders Nilsson from St. Louis in exchange for a fifth round pick in 2017. Nilsson has played for the Islanders, Blues and Oilers, totaling 52 games played in parts of four seasons,

Nilsson is 26 years of age and weighs in at 6′ 5″, 229 pounds. Tim Murray originally said he had a deal with a goaltender all set on Friday, but they backed out. With the market running short, Murray got a big goaltender, which is no surprise.

Nilsson will serve as the backup to Lehner. Both goalies are young and having something to prove this season. We’ll keep you updated with comments from both Murray and Nilsson.

I founded Buffalo Hockey Central in 2008 and have poured hours and hours into this site. Luckily, we have a great team of writers and designers who have helped keep this up and running despite a ton of out-of-pocket costs. We do this because we enjoy it, and we're desperate to see the Sabres win the Cup someday, but they have to make the playoffs first.
