The Sabres have hired Tom Ward as assistant coach and Adam Nightingale as video coach.
Ward, who is replacing Dave Barr, joins the Sabres after spending the last 18 seasons as head coach of the Shattuck St. Mary’s Boys Prep team. It’s one of the most well-known prep schools in American hockey and has seen many of its players make it to the NHL, including Sidney Crosby, Kyle Okposo, Jonathan Toews, Nathan MacKinnon, Zach Parise, and Derek Stepan.
Nightingale was the director of hockey operations and video coordinator for the Michigan State Spartans (NCAA) for four years. In addition to his time with the Spartans, Nightingale served as head coach of the Shattuck St. Mary’s Boys Bantam team for two seasons and led the team to a National Championship in 2016. Internationally, Nightingale served as the video coach for Team USA at the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championship.
Welcome to the Sabres!
