Vesey signs with Rangers

Vesey

#Veseywatch is officially over.

The Hobey Baker winner announced Friday that he has signed with the New York Rangers. A two-year, entry level deal which will pay the NHL rookie maximum $925,000 annually with an additional $1.92 million available via performance bonuses.

The Rangers had been rumored to be a favorite from the get-go and had been included in Vesey’s short list, which was announced earlier this week.

The winger is almost certain to have an immediate impact and now the blue shirts will look to see where he’ll fit amongst their lines.

As we noted earlier this week, the financial side had little impact on his decision. Location however, would play a huge role. Vesey will now be situated roughly 220 miles from his home town in Massachusetts.

From a Sabres standpoint, GMTM knew this was a possibility from day one, after acquiring the rights to negotiate with the winger from the Predators. With the Vesey Saga officially over, it’s time to lock up a couple of our own stars, with Ristolainen at the top of the list.
