Arena name changed to KeyBank Center

KeyBank Center

The Buffalo Sabres have officially changed over from the First Niagara Center to what is now the KeyBank Center.

When the arena opened in 1996, it was called the Marine Midland Arena and then changed to First Niagara Center in 2011. Now, the KeyBank Center. The name change may bring good vibes, since the team didn’t make the postseason under the First Niagara Center.

The arena is also expected to come with a few new features for fans this season, including access to free Wi-Fi. A new LED lighting system will be installed as well.

I founded Buffalo Hockey Central in 2008 and have poured hours and hours into this site. Luckily, we have a great team of writers and designers who have helped keep this up and running despite a ton of out-of-pocket costs. We do this because we enjoy it, and we're desperate to see the Sabres win the Cup someday, but they have to make the playoffs first.
