Kane to miss weeks

We all knew it was bad when Evander Kane went crashing into the boards in Thursday night’s opener vs. Montreal.

Early this afternoon, Dan Bylsma confirmed that Kane has three cracked ribs and will be out for weeks.

The Sabres are already without Jack Eichel for a couple of months, and now Kane will likely miss somewhere around a month.

Two of the Sabres top six are out, so the team will have to come together and find a way to win without them in the first couple of months.

In good news, Kyle Okposo and Dmitry Kulikov are close to returning. Still, the recent injuries are a big stumbling block.

The Sabres begin a four game road trip Sunday night in Edmonton.

I founded Buffalo Hockey Central in 2008 and have poured hours and hours into this site. Luckily, we have a great team of writers and designers who have helped keep this up and running despite a ton of out-of-pocket costs. We do this because we enjoy it, and we're desperate to see the Sabres win the Cup someday, but they have to make the playoffs first.
