Rochester Amerks winger Nicholas Baptiste scored a goal and assist to help the Amerks edge out the Hershey Bears in their home opener Friday evening at the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, NY.  Soon after the game, Baptiste got the call to join the Buffalo Sabres for their upcoming western road trip.

The Sabres are looking to bolster their forwards for the upcoming western campaign which begins this Sunday in Edmonton. Baptiste will replace the injured Evander Kane who suffered three cracked ribs when he took a hard slide into the boards in the Sabres home opener on Thursday in Buffalo.

The Sabres face McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday, then visit Calgary Flames on Tuesday and Vancouver Canucks on Thursday.

Baptiste was selected in the third round (69th pick overall) by the Buffalo Sabres in the 2013 entry draft and had 13 goals, 15 assists earning 28 points in his rookie season with the Amerks last year.
