Veteran Taylor Fedun has been called up from the Amerks and will play for the Sabres in tonight’s game against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The 28-year-old was signed to a two-way free agent contract over the summer. So far this season, he has two goals and 10 assists in 14 games for Rochester.

Fedun takes Casey Nelson’s place in the lineup. Nelson has been struggling and has a minus-4 rating in eight games. He’s been noticeably out of place and often a step behind in recent games.

Fedun has played only 12 NHL games for three teams: Edmonton, San Jose and Vancouver. Last year, he played 63 games for Utica in the AHL, notching eight goals and 25 assists.

Fedun will likely be paired with Justin Falk.

The Sabres’ defense is still without Zach Bogosian and Dmitry Kulikov who remain out with injuries.

I've been a Sabres fan since my first game in the Aud in '76 against the Habs. I sat in the lower golds for that game and though I've been to close to 400 games, I've never sat as close as I did that night.
