The Sabres face the Washington Capitals in the Verizon Center in a rare 5:05 p.m. EST puck drop.

The Sabres have won on the day after Thanksgiving in each of the last three seasons. It’ll be a tough game, as the Capitals have earned a point in 21 of their last 27 games against the Sabres (17-6-4) and in 12 of their last 14 home games against Buffalo (10-2-2).

Alex Ovechkin is good. Really good. He’s tallied 41 points (26G, 15A) in 39 career games against the Sabres and has earned nine points (6G, 3A) in his last seven games against Buffalo.

Anders Nilsson gets the start for the Sabres. Philipp Grubauer will be in net for the Caps.

I've been a Sabres fan since my first game in the Aud in '76 against the Habs. I sat in the lower golds for that game and though I've been to close to 400 games, I've never sat as close as I did that night.
