Jack Eichel skated with the team again yesterday at HarborCenter, continuing his recovery from his high-ankle sprain. He participated in line rushes and battle drills.
“I think today was a good test for him… the speed and the pace of practice and the workload,” Sabres coach Dan Bylsma said. “There was some 5-on-5, some D-zone coverage, 2-on-2 battles down low … I thought it was a real good test for him.”
When will we see him back on the ice?
“I think we’re day-to-day,” said Bylsma. “He’s starting to get that bug to get back on the ice and play. Hopefully that comes sooner than later.”
The Sabres play Tuesday in Ottawa, then host the New York Rangers on Thursday.
Dmitry Kulikov, out since November 12, skated alone, wearing a red non-contact jersey. He’s still a ways away from returning to the ice.
Zach Bogosian, Nicolas Deslauriers, Hudson Fasching and Tyler Ennis remain sidelined. They are weeks away from returning to action.
Finally, after being re-assigned on Saturday, William Carrier was recalled from Rochester. One additional forward will be called up for the game against the Ottawa Senators, likely Cal O’Reilly or Cole Schneider.
