During Monday’s game vs. the Washington Capitals, Jack Eichel went down awkwardly along the boards. It didn’t look like much, but the Sabres’ forward appeared to be in a great deal of pain after he made his way back to the bench.
Here’s another look at the play. Keep an eye on the left ankle:

It’s tough to tell exactly where it happened, but right at the beginning it looks like his foot may have gotten a bit twisted because of Dmitry Orlov’s skate.

Eichel stayed in the game to play most of his shifts. It appeared to take some time for him to get comfortable putting weight on his left ankle.
After the game, he and Dan Bylsma both commented on it.
“I think it’s the first time he’s had any incident he’s felt anything with the ankle, he tweaked it, that’s fairly normal,” Bylsma said.
“Hockey is a contact sport so I figure that’s going to happen during the year and I’ve just got to play through it,” Eichel said. I felt good. I just didn’t play well enough.”
No game-day skate for BUF (vs EDM tonite), but Jack Eichel getting treatment/assessment of potentially tweaked/reinjured high ankle sprain.

Eichel said he is good and ready to go for tonight’s game against Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers.
