Grant scores…nevermind

Former Buffalo Sabre Derek Grant is now with the Nashville Predators. The preseason superstar went cold once the games started counting and went goalless in 35 games with Buffalo.

On Tuesday night, he played in his third game with his new club and appeared to finally record his first NHL goal. After a lengthy review, the officials deemed that there was “intent to blow the whistle,” ruling it no goal.

Take a look here:

If you listen carefully, there is a whistle that goes just after Grant puts it in. Still, the review took nearly five minutes before the officials were able to determine that one of them was trying to rule the play dead.

Grant has now gone 78 games without a goal in his career. On his fourth team, we’re hoping he gets it soon…just not against Buffalo. The Sabres and Predators meet on the 24th.

I founded Buffalo Hockey Central in 2008 and have poured hours and hours into this site. Luckily, we have a great team of writers and designers who have helped keep this up and running despite a ton of out-of-pocket costs. We do this because we enjoy it, and we're desperate to see the Sabres win the Cup someday, but they have to make the playoffs first.
