Sabres extend offers to six

The Sabres have extended qualifying offers to the following players:

Marcus Foligno
Robin Lehner
Johan Larsson
Zemgus Girgensons
Nate Beaulieu
Evan Rodrigues

That leaves out Justin Kea, Brady Austin and Jean Dupuy, who are now unrestricted free agents.

For any needed help with some of this lingo, read below.

What is an RFA?

A restricted free agent is a player that the Sabres have exclusive right to, unless the club choose not to sign them.

A player may only declare himself to be a UFA if he is over the age of 27, or has played in the league for at least seven years.

What is a qualifying offer?

Qualifying offers are for one-year contracts offered to the player. The players can reject the offer and remain a restricted free agent, but can talk with other teams, and then sign with any after July 1st.

I founded Buffalo Hockey Central in 2008 and have poured hours and hours into this site. Luckily, we have a great team of writers and designers who have helped keep this up and running despite a ton of out-of-pocket costs. We do this because we enjoy it, and we're desperate to see the Sabres win the Cup someday, but they have to make the playoffs first.
