The Sabres trimmed their roster on Saturday by sending down forwards Justin Bailey and Nicolas Deslauriers to Rochester, both of whom will have to clear waivers. Defenseman Taylor Fedun was also sent to the Amerks.
Also, Buffalo released Cody Goulobef from his tryout.
The moves bring Buffalo down to 27 players, and they’ll need to be at 23 by opening night on Thursday. However, there are a few injuries — Sean Malone, Alexander Nylander and Evan Rodrigues — to players who likely won’t make the cut, at least out of Training Camp. Assuming none of those three make it, the Sabres would then have to cut just one other player to get to that magic number of 23.
