At 6’3″, 216 pounds, the Sabres drafted Mattias Samuelsson with the 32nd overall selection.
NHL Central Scouting director Dan Marr said that Samuelsson is responsible with the puck and understands his role:
“He does know how to utilize his size asset and he does know how to utilize it within the rules. He doesn’t go out of his way to run guys, hit guys. His 1-on-1 game, he makes sure he handles his checks. On the defensive side of the puck he’s responsible with it.”
One scout to @TheHockeyNews
“He’s [Samuelsson] going to play for a long time. Top pairing or top-four guy with a nasty streak, soft hands, high IQ and good footwork.” #Sabres

Samuelsson will be heading to Western Michigan this upcoming year so do not expect him to be competing for a roster spot.
