As the Sabres got their starting goaltender in Carter Hutton, the Rochester Americans got theirs in Scott Wedgewood. It’s a $650,000 two-way contract.

Wedgewood will be 26 next month and was a 3rd round (84th overall) selection in the 2010 Draft by the New Jersey Devils. He served as a backup for the Arizona Coyotes last year, but before that spent some time in the Devils’ organization.

With Linus Ullmark as Buffalo’s backup, a spot opened in Rochester and Wedgewood will have the chance to play regularly there.

I founded Buffalo Hockey Central in 2008 and have poured hours and hours into this site. Luckily, we have a great team of writers and designers who have helped keep this up and running despite a ton of out-of-pocket costs. We do this because we enjoy it, and we're desperate to see the Sabres win the Cup someday, but they have to make the playoffs first.
