The Buffalo Sabres look for their sixth straight win as they visit the slumping Pittsburgh Penguins at Consol Energy Center tonight.
Season series: This is the first of three meetings between the Sabres and Penguins. They will meet twice in March, both in Buffalo.
Buffalo notes: The Sabres are in the midst of their best streak since March 2012 and they are proving that they are never out of a game, as they have come from behind in four of their last five. Jack Eichel and Jeff Skinner have been close to unstoppable together and now have Sam Reinhart joining them on the top line. Carter Hutton has been brilliant in net and Linus Ullmark looked very good in his last start.
Pittsburgh notes: The Penguins are off to one of the most surprising starts in the NHL this season as they have lost eight of their last nine games and currently sit in last place in the Eastern Conference. They have not had consistent goaltending out of Matt Murray, and Sidney Crosby is currently dealing with an upper-body injury that will keep him out of the game tonight. Buffalo couldn’t have wished for a better time to visit the Steel City.
