The Sabres, winners of nine straight, look to extend the streak to 10 as they take on the San Jose Sharks Tuesday at Key Bank Center. Puck drop is set for 7 PM.
Season series: This is the second and final game of the season series between the Sabres and Sharks. Back on October 18th, in San Jose, the Sharks defeated the Sabres by a score of 5-1. However, that road trip proved to be a pivotal point for Buffalo as they won three of five games, beating both Anaheim and Los Angeles after the loss to the Sharks.
Buffalo notes: The Sabres have won nine straight games in a variety of different ways. Last game against Detroit came in a shootout – Sam Reinhart with the game-winning goal. Tage Thompson has been hot of late as well. He scored his third goal of the season on the power-play last game, contributing in the shootout as well with a beautiful deke move. Jeff Skinner continues his torrid pace, with now 18 goals on the season – one shy of the league lead held by Patrik Laine.
San Jose notes: The Sharks are coming off a devastating 6-0 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights. Though in a battle for the Division lead, the Sharks have played mediocre hockey over the last 10 games going 5-4-1. Former Sabre Evander Kane has eight goals and 15 points on the season. Defenseman Brett Burns leads the team with 24 points.
Starting goaltenders: Carter Hutton should get the start in goal for the Sabres. He’s currently riding a career-high seven-game winning streak. It remains to be seen whether the Sabres will face Aaron Dell or Martin Jones in goal, as the Sharks play back-to-back games Tuesday and Wednesday.
