Sabres look for 3 straight in D.C.

After two consecutive wins to finish their recent homestand, the Sabres  will travel to Washington, D.C. to take on the Capitals. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.

Season series: Tonight’s matchup is the first of three for Buffalo against the reigning champs, with the Sabres returning to the nation’s capital next week for another game.

Buffalo notes: With consecutive wins against the Kings and Coyotes at home earlier this week, the Sabres are currently on a two-game winning streak after losing in five straight.

Currently on the first night of a back-to-back, the Sabres will face a Capitals team that has won four in a row. The team’s leading scorer, Jeff Skinner, scored in their last two games, upping his team-high goal totals to 22. His  line mate, Jack Eichel has continued his strong run with 20 points in his last 14 games, continuing to provide a stable presence on the ice for his team.

Washington notes: The reigning Stanley Cup champions are looking to extend their win streak to five games as they currently lead the Metropolitan Division. Alex Ovechkin is continuing to tear up the league, with a league-leading 26 goals along with earning hat tricks in back-to-back games and will surely be a force for his team in tonight’s game.

One of the most memorable Sabres games I ever attended was the line brawl against the Senators, which Buffalo won in a shootout, 6-5. I can't wait for the day when playoff hockey returns to Buffalo. I graduated with a Masters in Sport Administration, and a Bachelor's in Political Science & Communication Studies from Canisius College.
