The Buffalo Sabres have made a move!
They’ve traded Brendan Guhle and a first-round pick to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for defenseman Brandon Montour.

Conditional pick details in Montour deal: #Ducks receive SJS 1st pick, or they have the option to select STL’s pick if it’s between #20 – #31.

Montour is 24 years old and has 25 points (five goals, 20 assists) in 62 games with the Ducks this year. He is closing in on his career-high of 32 points which he set last season.

Montour is signed through next season with a cap hit of $3,387,500.
“Brandon (Montour) is a young, offensive-minded defenseman who can play the up-tempo style we are looking to play,” said General Manager Jason Botterill. “He’s a right-shot defenseman that brings additional playoff experience to our club.”

🚨TRADE ALERT🚨
The #Sabres have acquired Brandon Montour from the #LetsGoDucks for Brendan Guhle and a 1st round pick. Montour is an excellent possession driver who ranks top-5 amongst defensemen in zone entries this season. pic.twitter.com/x45x8ZvO3B— The Point (@ThePointHockey) February 25, 2019
Guhle never got much of a chance with Buffalo, playing in just 23 games over the past three seasons combined. He did record five assists and at 21 years old he couldn’t crack the lineup just yet. He’ll get his chance in Anaheim.
Executive Vice President/GM Bob Murray on today's trade:
“Brendan Guhle is an excellent skater who is ready to take the next step in his career. Adding Guhle and a first-round pick is an important step as we retool our team moving forward." pic.twitter.com/ZzUA6GpozF
