Sabres to play in Sweden next season

The Sabres will be a part of NHL’s Global Series next season, heading to Europe for two regular season games.

They’ll head to Stockholm for a pair of games against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Nov. 8 and 9.

The spotlight will be on Rasmus Dahlin and Victor Hedman, both of whom are from Sweden. Dahlin told NHL.com:

“Now it’s going to happen, and it’s unreal,” the Buffalo Sabres defenseman said Wednesday. “It’s awesome. I mean, I’ve been on the same ice surface as him, but to be able to do it at home in front of friends and family, it’s unbelievable.

Linus Ullmark and Johan Larsson will also be in their native country again.

The last time Buffalo played in overseas was in the 2011-12 season when they Helsinki, Finland and Berlin, Germany.

I founded Buffalo Hockey Central in 2008 and have poured hours and hours into this site. Luckily, we have a great team of writers and designers who have helped keep this up and running despite a ton of out-of-pocket costs. We do this because we enjoy it, and we're desperate to see the Sabres win the Cup someday, but they have to make the playoffs first.
