Sabres/Canadiens Preview

After a two-day break, the Buffalo Sabres will get back in action tonight against the Montreal Canadiens at the Bell Centre. Game time is 7 p.m.

Season series:

This will be the 4th and final game of the season between these two teams. Although Buffalo has the season series locked up going 3-0 against Montreal this season, two have been decided by a shootout and the other was a 1-goal game.

The last meeting between these teams was in Montreal on November 23rd, back during the 10-game win streak.

Buffalo notes:

While facing the Canadiens, Jeff Skinner has been the go-to guy with four goals and two assists in the three-game series. Jack Eichel also chipped in four assists during that span.

After what seemed like a Toronto home game in Buffalo with the Leafs finding the bounces on their way to a 4-2 win, the Sabres will be eager to bounce back and protect their pride.

On the bright side, recently recalled Alex Nylander has one goal and two assists in his last two games and will look to take advantage of his opportunity riding shotgun on Eichel’s wing.

Montreal notes:

Max Domi has found recent success playing the Sabres this year as he has posted two goals and three assists in the three-game series. Unfortunately for him, his efforts came up short as his team could only pick up two points.

With eight games remaining, Montreal holds a one-point cushion on the 2nd and final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference. Every point is crucial at this point in time and you can expect the Canadiens to be in playoff mode for the rest of the season.
