I know what you’re thinking. This is the same player who Buffalo traded the rights for, but then he refused to sign with the Sabres.
The Sabres traded away a 2021 third round pick to the New York Rangers on Monday morning for Vesey, who is signed for just the upcoming season at $2.275M. He is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent after that.
Vesey has played in three seasons for the Rangers, totaling 16, 17, and 17 goals, respectively.
"He is very excited." – Jimmy Vesey's agent, Peter Fish, on the winger returning to the Sabres, this time under contract.

Giving up a third-round pick in 2021 isn’t very much at all. The Sabres are taking a shot on a forward who will probably be on the second line, at best. Given his first few seasons, Vesey may be viewed as an upgrade over some left- ingers like Conor Sheary and Scott Wilson.
