Sabres sign Marcus Johansson

The Buffalo Sabres signed forward Marcus Johansson to a two-year deal, worth $4.5M each season.

Johansson figures to fit in on Buffalo’s 2nd or 3rd line.

He has topped 20 goals in a season just once in his career, but has hit the 40-point mark five in five different seasons, including 58 in 2016-17. Johansson has played for the Washington Capitals, New Jersey Devils, and Boston Bruins, and has 334 points (120 goals, 214 assists) in 588 NHL games.

It’s a short-term deal for a player who can immediately help out on offense.

I founded Buffalo Hockey Central in 2008 and have poured hours and hours into this site. Luckily, we have a great team of writers and designers who have helped keep this up and running despite a ton of out-of-pocket costs. We do this because we enjoy it, and we're desperate to see the Sabres win the Cup someday, but they have to make the playoffs first.
