Scary news for Okposo; Tage out weeks

The Sabres released an injury report this morning and it included one particularly frightening sign – Kyle Okposo is out indefinitely with a concussion.

This likely could have been the play where the injury happened:

Regardless, it’s awful to hear that Okposo is dealing with another concussion. He’s obviously dealt with some serious issues over the past few years, and this indefinite status worries me, and even his future in hockey.

We’ll have to wait and see if we get any update on his progression, but best wishes for Okposo and his family. Hopefully, he recovers quickly from this.

Also, Tage Thompson is apparently going to miss a few weeks with an upper-body injury. He has been lighting it up for the Amerks this season and finally got called up only to get injured in Sunday’s game.

Vladimir Sobotka is also going to miss a few weeks.

Marcus Johansson and Johan Larsson were not at practice today and will not play against Minnesota on Tuesday.

Zach Bogosian did practice, but it’s not yet clear when he’s returning. Bogosian was practicing on a forward line with Zemgus Girgensons and Rasmus Asplund.

The Sabres have been struggling as a team and now with all these injuries, it’s going to be even more challenging to start turning things around. It’s possible another callup will be made soon, or possibly a trade.

I founded Buffalo Hockey Central in 2008 and have poured hours and hours into this site. Luckily, we have a great team of writers and designers who have helped keep this up and running despite a ton of out-of-pocket costs. We do this because we enjoy it, and we're desperate to see the Sabres win the Cup someday, but they have to make the playoffs first.
