Hammond called up

The Sabres announced that they have recalled goaltender Andrew Hammond from Rochester this afternoon. Carter Hutton apparently has a family issue to attend to, leaving the Sabres with just one goaltender in Jonas Johansson.

We want to wish all the best to Hutton and his family for whatever may be going on there.

In 27 games with the Amerks this season, Hammond has a 2.57 GAA and a .904 save percentage. He hasn’t appeared in an NHL game since the 2017-18 season with the Colorado Avalanche.

Johansson will get the start today against the Ducks.

The Sabres also recalled Lawrence Pilut as Marcus Johansson is out due to sickness.

I founded Buffalo Hockey Central in 2008 and have poured hours and hours into this site. Luckily, we have a great team of writers and designers who have helped keep this up and running despite a ton of out-of-pocket costs. We do this because we enjoy it, and we're desperate to see the Sabres win the Cup someday, but they have to make the playoffs first.
