Kim Pegula told the Associated Press that General Manager Jason Botterill will return for his fourth season.
Kim Pegula on Botterill from the AP article, “I realize, maybe it’s not popular with the fans, but we have to do the things that we feel are right,” she said. “We have a little bit more information than maybe a fan does, some inner workings that we see some positives in.”

That’s some choice of words from Kim Pegula.
Botterill is being given a long leash despite the team’s on-ice performance in his first three years:
- 2017-18 25-45-12 (62 points)
- 2018-19 33-39-10 (76 points)
- 2019-20 30-31-8 (68 points)
While I never thought Botterill would lose his job this spring (and he won't), I can say someone from Kim's inner circle decried the fact the GM was running the Sabres like he didn't have a plan & was upset the Pegulas let Botterill go over the cap and had nothing to show for it.
