The Buffalo Sabres announced today that they have relieved General Manager Jason Botterill of his duties. They also said that Kevyn Adams will take over.

They also relieved the duties of assistant GMs Randy Sexton and Steve Greeley.
Veteran assistant GM Randy Sexton was also let go by the Sabres. Both Sexton and Botterill had two more years left on their deals after this season.

I can tell you they have been grooming Adams for this since they bought the Sabres. They wanted him to get experience in every part of the operation to get ready for this. He's been with the organization since 2009 starting as a development coach and then assistant coach.

This news comes as an utter shock as just a couple of weeks ago, the Pegulas said that Botterill would be returning for another season despite the unpopular opinion among fans.
