Larsson, Simmonds likely headed out

We’re finally going to see some action in the NHL this week. With the NHL draft here and Free Agent Friday, GMs are going to be very busy.

The Sabres new GM, Kevyn Adams, spoke to the media earlier this week. When asked specifically about Johan Larsson, Adams says he wasn’t into trying to convince a player to stay.

From everything Adams said, it sure sounds like Larsson believes he can get a better deal (and more wins) elsewhere.

He played seven seasons in Buffalo with 97 points (38 goals, 59 assists) in 392 games.

According to Elliotte Friedman, Wayne Simmonds could be another Sabre heading to a new team.

Jason Botterill acquired Simmonds from the New Jersey Devils for a 2021 conditional 5th round pick. Simmonds appeared in seven games for Buffalo, registering one assist.

The Sabres only have a handful of other forwards who could be unrestricted free agents this week:

I founded Buffalo Hockey Central in 2008 and have poured hours and hours into this site. Luckily, we have a great team of writers and designers who have helped keep this up and running despite a ton of out-of-pocket costs. We do this because we enjoy it, and we're desperate to see the Sabres win the Cup someday, but they have to make the playoffs first.
