Girgensons has played the last seven seasons for Buffalo and has been relatively healthy, playing in each of the last five years.
He has never reached 20 points, but that’s not his game. He’s a defensive forward that can continue to play on the 3rd or 4th line for a cheap price.
It’s not an exciting deal, but he’s a piece the Sabres can still use.
It’s a $600,000 raise for Girgensons. Could GM Kevyn Adams have found a better option in free agency? It’s possible, but they know what they’re going to get from Girgensons and that must be enough to warrant the new deal.
