Jonathan Huberdeau, Florida Panthers
When you look at the accomplishments of Huberdeau, you cannot help but be impressed that they came while being on such a terrible hockey team. Huberdeau finished tied for first in scoring amongst rookies, with Nail Yakupov. Huberdeau tallied 31 points (14 goals 17 assists) in 48 games. He ranked second on the Panthers in points. Some believe Huberdeau is a stronger candidate because he never had the talent around him, like the other nominees. Huberdeau was also very useful on the power play, tallying 9 points (2 goals, 7 assists) on the man advantage. The only possible downfall for Huberdeau would be his -15 rating, but when you look at where and how the Panthers fell from grace this season, it could have been much worse.
