Sabres ink Cal O’Reilly

The Buffalo Sabres have signed forward Cal O’Reilly, the brother of recently acquired Ryan O’Reilly to a two-year contract for $1.4M.  The forward will be 25 when the season starts and has played for three teams (partially for each of them during one season), but has tallied 41 points (13 goals, 28 assists) in 113 games.

O’Reilly hasn’t played at the NHL level since the end of the 2011-2012 season season, but has recently been playing for the Utica Comets (AHL) as their captain and for the Metallurg Magnitogorsk of the KHL.

Cal O’Reilly gives the Sabres additional depth and will likely help out Rochester. He will also get a chance at some point during the season at the NHL level.

I founded Buffalo Hockey Central in 2008 and have poured hours and hours into this site. Luckily, we have a great team of writers and designers who have helped keep this up and running despite a ton of out-of-pocket costs. We do this because we enjoy it, and we're desperate to see the Sabres win the Cup someday, but they have to make the playoffs first.
