The Buffalo Sabres have settled their lone arbitration case, signing Phil Varone to a one-year, $600,000 contract. It is a two-way deal.
Varone, drafted by San Jose in 2009, has been in the Sabres’ organization for the past four seasons. He played in 55 games for the Rochester Americans, scoring 44 points (15 goals, 29 assists). Varone also had a stint with the Sabres, where he tallied five points in 28 games.
