The Buffalo Sabres and Minnesota Wild were planning to play a preseason game in September, but the location was the only question. Due to a Maroon 5 concert on Sept 26, the two teams were expecting to play that game in Rochester.
However, the arena was deemed as inadequate and so, the two teams will play that exhibition game at Pegula Ice Arena in State College, Pennsylvania.
Russ Brandon, president of the Sabres said the issues with Rochester’s 61-year-old arena, which was renovated between 1996 and 1998 at a cost of $41 million, are “wide-ranging, from suite level all the way down to how we prepare our hockey team.”
The Sabres are planning to release their preseason schedule in its’ entirety on Wednesday.
