Sabres re-sign Catenacci

Dan Catenacci will return to the Sabres next season as he has been re-signed to a two-way contract.

Catenacci played a majority of this past season in Rochester, tallying 24 points in 50 games. He made a few appearances at the NHL level, dressing in 11 games for the Sabres despite registering zero points.

Despite his lack of scoring production with the big club, Catenacci played with a high motor and commendable effort. There were several occasions where he had an opportunity to score and failed to finish. Though he did not produce in his short stint with the big club, Catenacci displayed sound positional awareness and NHL level skating ability.

At 23 years of age, this will be a make or break campaign for Catenacci to prove he can be a regular in the NHL. With the Sabres ever developing talent pool at forward, this will be a difficult task. He will likely start the season in Rochester and serve in a reserve/call-up role. The key will be for Catenacci to distinguish himself in the minors and work his way up the organizational depth chart.

One way or another, the Sabres added another option in the event of injury next season.
