Recap
In what was essentially a reunion of sorts for many players, the Sabres dropped their seventh consecutive game, falling to the Minnesota Wild by a 5-4 score at KeyBank Center on Wednesday night.
This one was trending in the the wrong direction early on as the Wild lit the lamp three times in the opening period, but the Sabres battled back and didn’t let it get completely out of hand.
Jordan Nolan had a big night with a pair of goals, the second of which brought Buffalo within one late in the third period. Jacob Josefson recorded his first point as a Sabre with a secondary assist on Nolan’s first goal.
Jordan Nolan says when he was with the Kings that players would hold guys accountable… taking bad shots, long shifts, players would hear it. Gave impression that it's not happening here. Says it better start or it will be a long season and long seasons to come. #Sabres

The Sabres continued to put on pressure late and created a few quality scoring chances, but they ran out of time. It was something we’ve seen too much of this season. If only they could show that effort for a full 60 minutes.

Nino Niederreiter and Mikael Granlund each recorded a pair of goals, while Tyler Ennis scored one against his former team as well.
Jack Eichel and Sam Reinhart scored the other two goals for Buffalo. Eichel opened the scoring after jamming the puck past Devan Dubnyk. After the goal was taken back, it was then overturned after a review.
Reinhart redirected a pass from Jake McCabe to bring Buffalo back within two late in the second period.
Chad Johnson stopped just 10 of 13 shots, and head coach Phil Housley elected to put Robin Lehner in goal to start the second period. Lehner allowed two goals on 19 shots, and while he was better, he actually ended up taking the loss since the Sabres scored four times.
The Sabres will close out their four-game homestand on Friday, when they take on the Edmonton Oilers. That game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. puck drop.
