The Sabres announced today that they have signed Sam Reinhart to a two-year deal with a cap hit of $3,650,000 per season.
The two sides had been working on a deal for a while, and finally, they agreed to something. With just over two weeks left until the opener, Reinhart is locked up for a couple of years.
This is a deal that appears to be better for the organization than for Reinhart, himself. It saves the team a decent amount of cap, but more importantly, the deal is for Reinhart to prove himself.
However you gotta put the puck in, you do it.

In the past three seasons, he has played at least 79 in each of them, recording 42, 47, and 50 points, respectively. Those aren’t bad numbers at all. But for the 2nd overall pick in 2014, the Sabres want to see more out of him before upping his paycheck.
Reinhart will turn 23 years old in November and could very well take that next step. At the end of this two-year deal he will retain his restricted free agent status, another bonus of this contract.
