Girgensons could be out for season

Fresh off a 3-year deal worth $6.6M, it sounds like Zemgus Girgensons may not be playing in many games if any, this season.

He suffered a torn hamstring during a scrimmage earlier this week:

It seems likely that Girgensons will miss the entire season with a recovery time of about six months. The organization will want him to fully recover and may be best for them to just heal up until October.

Losing Girgensons means the Sabres take a hit defensively and on the penalty kill. Girgensons was very useful in those two departments, but now this opens up an opportunity for someone else to step in.

I founded Buffalo Hockey Central in 2008 and have poured hours and hours into this site. Luckily, we have a great team of writers and designers who have helped keep this up and running despite a ton of out-of-pocket costs. We do this because we enjoy it, and we're desperate to see the Sabres win the Cup someday, but they have to make the playoffs first.
