The Sabres started off the week with a 3-2 win against the Rangers. Brad Boyes made his presence known immediately with a goal in his first game for Buffalo. Ryan Miller kept the Rangers to two goals despite a late surge and dangerous offensive attack in the third period.
A devastating 3-2 overtime loss to the Hurricanes allowed Carolina to move into seventh while the Rangers dropped down to eighth. Buffalo’s loss kept them two points out of the playoffs, but the Rangers are the team to catch, and the Sabres have three games in hand on them.
The Sabres battled back on Saturday, after falling behind 2-0 to the top team in the Eastern Conference. Three goals in the second period and two in the third gave Buffalo a 5-3 victory over Philadelphia. The Sabres moved to one point back of Carolina.
Despite giving up a 2-0 lead, the Sabres finished off the Wild with a 3-2 overtime win, thanks to Drew Stafford’s goal.
