Amerks name captain and alternates

The Rochester Amerians have named thier captain and alternates today, just before faceoff with the Syracuse Crunch.

Forward Kevin Porter, the 26 year free agent signing by the Buffalo Sabres this offseason, has been named captain. Porter is an NHL verteran of 163 games, and brings a good, hard checking style to the Amerks. His experience should be a good addition to the locker room.

In an interview on WGR550 in Buffalo, Kevin Sylvester (@kevsylvester : Twitter) asked Kevin about his promotion to captain. Porter acknowledged it was a “huge honor”, and he is looking forward to a great and hardworking season. Porter also said that the competition in camp was fierce, and it made the team stronger as a whole.

Kevin Porter also stated, that they have a very strong lineup, up and down the roster. “We have a bunch of big, mean defensman, who can move the puck. Our forwards have some good size and skill, and should be fun to watch for the fans.”

The alternate captains will be T.J. Brennan, and recently returned forward Mark Mancari. The Amerks open thier season at home in Rochester, against the Syracuse Crunch.
