The Buffalo Sabres have announced that they have come to terms with veteran forward Matt Ellis on a two-year, two-way deal.
Ellis, who could compete for a job with the Sabres, is expected to start the season off with the Rochester Americans of the AHL and be the captain of that squad.
Just a few days ago, Sabres GM Darcy Regier expressed interest in re-signing Ellis to provide the franchise with depth and leadership in Rochester.
Ellis is an eight-year veteran of the NHL, with five of those years coming in Buffalo.
No financial details were released at the time of the announcement.
