The Buffalo Sabres finish up their three game western road swing tonight as they battle the league leading Anaheim Ducks. The Sabres will try to get back in the win column after getting shut out by the Los Angeles Kings last night 2-0.
The Sabres will try to make it two out of three wins on this road trip and hopefully gain some ground in the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference. It looked as though the Sabres might be turning the corner after their visit to San Jose Tuesday night when they took down one of the stronger teams in the league 5-4 in a shoot out, but the L.A. Kings had some different thoughts. Jonathan Quick’s 19 saves and a potent King’s power play were to much for the Sabres to overcome last night. It doesn’t get any easier tonight at the Honda Center where Anaheim is undefeated (6-0). Not only do the Sabres have to deal with the Ducks, they could be without top Defenseman Christian Ehrhoff who left the game with a lower body injury.
The Anaheim Ducks are winners of six out of their last seven with one of those victories coming at the hands of the Sabres, 6-3. Leading the way for the Duck’s high powered offense are both right wing Corey Perry (10 goals and 7 assists) along with center Ryan Getzlaf (7 goals and 11 assists). Head coach Bruce Boudreau has his club playing some great hockey so far this year. The Ducks have only three losses this season after 17 games and not only have the leagues fourth best average in goals per game, but also are ninth in goals against, showing what a well rounded team the Sabres are facing.
This is the final meeting of the season between the to clubs. Tonight’s game has a scheduled 10:05 puck drop and can be seen on MSG.
