Call-ups are taking toll on Amerks

Not surprisingly, the injuries to the Sabres have also hurt the Amerks.

With a constant carousel of players being called up to play in Buffalo (Cal O’Reilly, Cole Schneider, Justin Falk, Taylor Fedun, William Carrier, Nicholas Baptiste, Evan Rodrigues, and Justin Bailey), the Amerks have dropped six straight (0-5-1), being outscored 24-13 in that span. Last night, after dropping behind 4-0 after two periods, their comeback fell short, losing 4-2 to the Albany Devils.

After starting the season with seven wins and seven losses, the lack of continuity has taken its toll. Head Coach Dan Lambert has had to deal with an ever-changing lineup, often with his best players heading west on the New York State Thruway.

With a record of 7 wins, 11 losses, and 1 shootout loss, Rochester is tied for eleventh place out of fourteen teams in the conference. The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins sit atop the conference with a 13-4-2 OTL record.

Despite only playing sixteen games in Rochester, Cal O’Reilly leads the Amerks with eighteen points (3G, 15A). Cole Schneider has seventeen points (7G, 10A) in fourteen games.

In fourteen games, Linus Ullmark is 6-7-1 with a 2.99 goals against average and a .909 save percentage.

I've been a Sabres fan since my first game in the Aud in '76 against the Habs. I sat in the lower golds for that game and though I've been to close to 400 games, I've never sat as close as I did that night.
